What is the difference between a nuisance wildlife controller and a pest control operator?
Pest Control Operators (PCO) and Exterminators are licensed to deal with bug and termite problems. Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators (NWCO), or Animal Controllers, are people licensed to control wildlife. PCO’s are governed by the Department of Food and Agriculture. NWCO’s are governed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. When confronting a problem with wildlife, it is best to always deal with a company that specializes in problem animal control.
What types of wildlife can possibly be damaging my home?
The most common wildlife found in South Carolina homes are the following:
Rats (year round), Squirrels (fall through spring), Raccoons (winter through summer), Opossum (year round), Snakes (year round, hibernate in the winter), Bats (year round, go south in the winter), Birds (spring), Bees (spring through fall).
What types of diseases do wild animals carry and are they harmful to humans
Most wild animals are capable of carrying harmful diseases. Animals carry such diseases as rabies, Toxoplasmosis, Histoplasmosis, Salmonella (food poisoning), Rat-bite Fever, Raccoon Roundworm, and Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, just to name a few.
Does your company use poison
At ALL THINGS WILD, we practice humane trapping and wildlife removal techniques without the use of poison. If poison is used to control an animal problem there are risks of the animal dying inside your home or office. This practice could cause an odor problem. There are appropriate times to use poisons, but those times are after all animals have been removed and all entry areas are sealed/excluded. Poisons are only legal for rats and mice, and insects of course.
